Rescheduling & Cancellation Policy
Life doesn’t always go according to plan. A meeting runs long, a family member gets sick, travel plans shift — and suddenly the cleaning you booked doesn’t fit your week anymore. We understand completely, and we’ve built our policy to be as flexible as we reasonably can.
At the same time, we have a promise to keep to the people who care for your home. Every GreenTerra technician is a full-time employee with guaranteed hours and benefits — not a gig worker who only gets paid when a job happens. When you give us notice, you’re not just adjusting a calendar; you’re helping us protect a real person’s income and schedule. This policy is how we balance both.
Below, we’ve laid out exactly what to expect in every situation, so there are never any surprises.
A Quick Note on Two Words: “Skipping” vs. “Cancelling”
These sound similar but mean very different things, and knowing the difference will help the rest of this page make sense.
Skipping means pausing a single visit on a recurring plan. Maybe you’re traveling one week, or the house just doesn’t need it this time. You skip that one cleaning — but your plan stays active, your spot stays reserved, and we see you again at your next scheduled visit. Nothing about your ongoing plan changes.
Cancelling means ending your recurring plan entirely — stopping all future visits and closing out the schedule. This isn’t a pause; it’s a full stop.
So: skip one visit, or cancel the whole plan. Two different actions, two different sets of guidelines below.
If You Booked a One-Time Cleaning
A one-time cleaning is a single visit that isn’t part of a recurring plan. Because we’ve reserved a technician and a block of time specifically for you, here’s how notice works:
More than 48 hours before your visit — You can reschedule or cancel at no charge, no questions asked.
Between 24 and 48 hours before your visit — A $50 fee applies. By this point your technician’s day is already being planned around your appointment, so this helps cover that commitment.
Less than 24 hours before your visit (including same-day) — The full service rate applies. At this stage your cleaner has almost certainly set aside the day, prepared supplies, and may already be on the way.
How weekends factor in: Our office is closed Saturday and Sunday, so those days don’t count toward your notice window. The most common example: if your cleaning is on a Monday, we count notice from the Friday before. Let us know by that Friday and there’s no charge. Our office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM.
If You’re on a Recurring Plan and Want to Skip a Visit
This is where a little explanation goes a long way, so stay with us — it’s simpler than it first looks.
When you sign up for a recurring plan, you receive a discount off our standard rate. That discount exists because we visit often: frequent cleanings are easier to maintain, more efficient for our team, and let us build a rhythm with your home. The more often we come, the better the rate.
So when you skip a visit, the time between cleanings gets longer — and a longer gap means a different rate for the visit that follows. Your discount isn’t taken away; it simply adjusts to reflect how much time has actually passed. After that one adjusted visit, your normal plan and normal discount resume as usual.
Here’s how it plays out:
Skipping one visit on a Bi-Weekly plan moves your next cleaning to the Monthly rate, because skipping stretches a two-week gap into roughly a month.
A gap of about three weeks is billed at the Monthly rate.
A gap longer than four weeks is treated as a general (one-time) cleaning, since at that point the home hasn’t been maintained on a recurring rhythm.
A simple example: Say your bi-weekly cleaning is scheduled for the 1st and the 15th. If you skip the 15th, your next visit falls around the end of the month — about four weeks after your last cleaning. That visit is billed at the monthly rate. Then you’re right back on your bi-weekly plan and bi-weekly pricing afterward.
Your one-week grace window: If you simply move a visit to a new day within one week of the original date, nothing changes at all — your discounted rate stays exactly the same. This adjustment only comes into play when a skip creates a longer gap.
If You Want to Cancel Your Recurring Plan
You’re never locked in. There’s no long-term contract, and you can end your recurring plan whenever you need to — whether your circumstances changed, your needs changed, or the timing just isn’t right anymore.
All we ask is a little notice so we can close your schedule out cleanly and free up your technician’s time. If you have a visit still on the calendar when you cancel, and it falls inside the notice windows described in the one-time section above, that final visit may follow those same guidelines.
If you’d ever like to restart, we’d love to have you back — just reach out and we’ll get you set up again.
Why We Have This Policy at All
We know cancellation fees aren’t anyone’s favorite topic, so here’s the honest reasoning behind ours.
Most cleaning companies rely on independent contractors who are only paid when a job actually happens — so a last-minute cancellation costs the company nothing. We made a different choice. Every GreenTerra technician is a full-time employee with a guaranteed schedule, benefits, and steady income they can build a life around.
That’s a promise we’re proud of, but it only works if the schedule holds together. When a visit disappears at the last minute, your cleaner may have already blocked off the day, prepped supplies, or begun the trip to your home — and that time can’t be given back. Reasonable notice, and the occasional fee, is simply how we keep our promise to our team while keeping your service reliable and high-quality. Every respectful change you make helps us build a more ethical, sustainable cleaning industry.
Thank you for understanding — it genuinely matters.

Quick Recap
One-time cleaning: More than 48 hours = free · 24–48 hours = $50 · less than 24 hours = full rate.
Skipping a recurring visit: your next visit’s rate adjusts to match the longer gap — unless you reschedule within one week, in which case nothing changes.
Canceling your plan: anytime, no contract — just give us notice.
Mondays: because we’re closed weekends, give notice by the Friday before.
